It is time for all REAL MEN to stand up and be counted.  Good, decent men who love and respect women and girls.  It’s time for YOU to stand up and pledge your name to the “REAL MEN RESPECT” Campaign, sponsored by The Women's Community and The Marathon County Domestic Abuse Intervention Team.   

REAL MEN RESPECT is an ongoing campaign designed to give appreciation to REAL MEN and put pressure on abusive men to STOP THEIR ABUSE.  Your pledge has the power to do that!  Join the fight to end violence against women.  Join the nearly 500 men from your community who have already pledged.  Call 842-5663 to pledge your name as a REAL MAN.    Click here for a copy of the pledge card.

                  Statistics indicate that men commit over 90% of the violence in our society. For centuries, it has bee women who have taken the active role of talking about & standing against violence. Until men get involved in the campaign, the violence will continue. This approach is not blaming all men. It is a pro-man campaign speaking to the many strong & respectful men that live among us that want safety & equality for all. It recognizes that men have positive power within their peer groups to create change. It gives a voice to the many men who have the courage to stand up & publicly say, “Real men respect women.” It is time for men to take a vocal & active role. Men can still be strong by taking a strong stand against violence. This stand is for our children…for the women in our lives whom we know & love...for dignity as men, husbands, fathers, brothers, friends, & community members. Since violence, sexism, inequality, & abuse are not taught or created in a vacuum, we must examine & confront them from many angles. First, each man must examine his own interactions & attitudes towards women, & his beliefs about violence. Secondly, the collective voice of men can help change the old paradigms of: Men often use violence to gain power…and domestic violence is a family matter. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, ”Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere...” Every may has an important opportunity to ensure that women have safety & justice. Brave men recognize that by their example they can help re-socialize & inspire other men & boys to live a non-violent lifestyle & respect all people, regardless of their gender, age, race, culture, or sexual orientation.

Peaceful Solutions Counseling, along with The Women's Community, are pleased to announce that our new fundraising project is now available: a music compilation CD titled, "VOICES".   

Fantastic singers/musicians from around the area have donated a song/recording for this project.  We have songs from the following: Janet Planet, John Altenburgh, Otis and the Alligators, Scott Kirby, Todd Werner, Mark Szmanda, LJ Booth, and many others.

 All proceeds from each CD sale will go toward the services both agencies provide to children and victims.  There are also 4 tracks throughout the CD of women, children and men talking about their vision to live without violence.
