Live a life of non-violence.

Take full responsibility for my thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Recognize that abusive behavior is a choice.  I pledge to walk away from conflicts before I become too angry.  I pledge to seek support and options when I need it so that I can make healthy choices.

Recognize that domestic violence encompasses much more than physical violence.  I do not have to be physically violent to be abusive.  I pledge to truly examine my own behavior for ways that I am controlling, manipulative, intimidating, isolating, and otherwise hurtful to my loved ones.

Consider my family’s feelings when making decisions.

Raise my children to respect themselves and others.  I will parent them in a respectful and assertive manner, so they may grow up to practice assertive, non-abusive solutions to conflicts.

Take an active part in building a society in which abuse between spouses, parents and children, friends, lovers, neighbors, and nations is forever unacceptable.

Treat all women with respect, dignity, and equality.  I pledge to actively listen to women and respect their thoughts, emotions, and choices.

Stand by victims who need me.

Be an active voice against violence in my community.
